Mr Mohamed Butt has led the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) since Dec 2017. He brought to the Council with 30 plus years of senior management experience, the pursuit of leadership excellence as well as effective results derived from his passion in driving technological applications among the industry, facilitating time-to-market and efficient upgrades, allowing SMEs to match the trending digital and automated manufacturing initiatives, branding Hong Kong to new heights whilst contributing to the advocacy of smart city.
Mr Butt has generous knowledge in infrastructure, industrial and consumer sectors. Prior to joining HKPC, he spearheaded large transformational projects in collaboration with private and public sectors, is prominent in digital transformation and localisation. He has worked for General Electric (GE) for over two decades, where he held various senior management positions including President & CEO of GE’s Transportation Business in the Asia Pacific region, provided strategic leadership to have expanded the business footprints. Before such role, he also served as President & CEO of GE Lighting Asia and GE Security Asia respectively.
Mr Butt was brought up in Hong Kong, graduated from Winona State University, Minnesota in the US with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He also received his Master in Business Administration from Kellogg School of Management and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
